EPG Viewer for SmartDVB

Postby Risky73 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 6:06 pm

I've made for my own use SmartDVB EPG Viewer, basically large table showing lots of channels with epg in columns (see screenshot.jpg).

I'm uploading it because other users of SmartDVB might find it useful.
Link to download is: http://www54.zippyshare.com/v/28297825/file.html

Usage is simple, just unpack folder (as subfolder) into SmartDVB folder (with databases smartdvb.db and smarteit.db), and run DVBEPGViewer.exe. This application is standalone and it doesn't require running SmartDVB.
Additional function is to sort channels according to custom lists (that's how I organised my favorite channels), it can be activated through button "Sort By Favorites" (or by running program by "DVBEPGViewer.exe fav").
Button "Refresh EPG" rereads SmartDVB database.

If it doesn't work for you, just delete it's folder.

There's no folder, just this simple py file. And don't expect too much, I've done this in spare time, goal was to make it working and running as fast as possible, so no "try" and other shields against errors ;)
This is newer version than exe I posted before, it contains also short epg descriptions (descriptions for freesat epg).

Here's newer version of EPG Viewer for download:
http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/42369657/file.html

Changes are:
- Character encoding: through menu "Encoding" it is possible to select Arabic or Cyrillic or Greek or Turkish encoding, Latin codepage changed to Central Europe (Latin is available through button "Refresh EPG", )
- added short EPG description (mostly used for Freesat EPG)

New version of SmartDVB EPG Reader (renamed app):

http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/765739/file.html

Changes:
- automatic detection of codepage, so manual selection is no more needed - works for East/West European, Arabic (tested on 7.0W), Cyrillic (tested on 4.0W), Greek (tested on 9.0E) - doesn't work on Turkish (tested on 7.0E and 42.0E) because those channels don't provide EPG codepage information

Updated version:
http://www.uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1394049630

Fixes:
- fixed Bulgarian Cyrillic at 4.0W & 45.0E
- added detection for Turkish on 42.0E
- fixed Czech & Slovak on 23.5E (maybe)
- added Georgian on 4.9E (seems like it's working)

New version of SmartDVB EPG Reader:
http://www.uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1400625939

Changes:
- internal change of database access to SmartDVB database (speeds up little bit)
- added generation of chanpar.db file which can be used in SmartDVB Customlist Editor for quasi unicode reading of channel names

You didn't write the text of error message (so I can check what is the problem)? Without this information I could suggest that c:\path\smartdvb should contain smartdvb.db and smarteit.db, without either of those in this place problems will arise.

i think that camilla might've been a bot risky (having issues with that lately, not much free time though so haven't had the opportunity to look at that, tedious jobs those php editing sessions anyhow :)).

I would love to get this or some form of EPG working here in North America. Is there anyway that this can work off of just a xml file?
I can get data from Schedules Direct via a subscription and it is delivered in xml file format. You configure the channels you need on their website and the data is delivered via xml download. Some of these channels are not actually true to the location from which I receive the programming but the data is correct. There's not much available for a "True FTA" situation here.

Many Thanks!

Good day,

Regarding the schedules direct EPG data. As i understand it this is based on XMLTV format. Some kind of import routine/dialog would have to be added with regards to this. It's certainly possible to import such XMLTV data to the internal EPG database, although not all xmltv parameters (eg: parental age data etc) might be importable..

Such import functionality is on my todo but not a priority atm

Best regards

New version of SmartDVB EPG Reader on http://www.uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1517935107

This new version contains three tabs:
- SDEPG - SmartDVB EPG Reader - to refresh display press button "Refresh EPG" - mouse click on table cell displays details in reader window - requires files smartdvb.db and smarteit.db, by default this files should be in parent folder but this can be changed in menu Utility/Settings Dialog
- XMLTV - reader for XML data provided by program WebGrab+Plus (homepage "http://www.webgrabplus.com/") - button "Offline XML" displays xml files from xml folder - button "Online XML" runs WebGrab+Plus.exe and displays resulting xml - mouse click on table cell displays details in reader window - location of WebGrab+Plus.exe and xml folder can be set in menu Utility/Settings Dialog
- Schedule - double click on cell in SDEPG or XMLTV tab places that event in schedule table, this way a kind of schedule of interesting events can be created - button "Refresh Schedule" displays schedule or refreshes it by removing passed events - mouse click on table cell displays details in reader window - double click on cell in schedule table toggles priority of event and displays background in different color - right click on cell offers context menu to remove event - menu Schedule/Schedule Dialog offers dialog to enter event which is not available in EPG or xml

Commandline switches for starting program:
- "-s" automatically displays refreshed schedule tab
- "-f [size]" starts program with different font size ("-f 10" starts program with font size 10 instead of default) which might be useful on small screens with high dpi

I've tried uploadmb with Palemoon (latest version) and I get no error like that on downloading, Firefox (latest version) also shows no error.
I don't know any other file server which doesn't require login, where I can just come and upload file and others can just come and download it. I you know any that works with your web browser please tell me so I can upload there.

thanks for this new version Risky, but having issues getting it to run, i'm getting a 'failed to execute script SmartDVBEpgReader' at startup. Anything i'm missing? I'm using the databases from the current x64 build release (with the unicode/utf8 changes). Btw do you know if BBC freeview etc it still working with the unicode version?
