Failed updating SmartDVB

Postby YagiBear » Sat Jul 07, 2018 6:57 pm

So I've been using 0.5.0.60 (release) for the longest time, and saw there's a newer version, 0.5.1.38 win 32 portable release. Only it was a portable version, no installer.
So I uninstalled the current version (had to run as admin, for some reason), but now when I run the scan the list comes up empty. Level and Quality are both at zero. Doesn't matter if I use bda.dev or bdas.dev, The same thing happens.
There's nothing wrong with the hardware or driver. I used it without a problem minutes before the upgrade. Also, as a workaround, I'm using VLC to watch DVB-T at the time of writing this.

What am I doing wrong?

Progress? I deleted the settings, restarted, and now I have the channel list but L/Q still both zero and no audio or video. Maybe it picked up the EPG and channels from the previous install and I'm just imagining things and I'm not making progress? Because when I scan the channel I see the message "> No signal".

did you register the filters 'filters -> registerfilters.bat'. You need to run registerfilters.bat with the file explorer as administrator before running the app, older filters might be incompatible. How did you do the upgrade exactly? You should just unpack the archive to some new folder eg: c:\smartdvb05138 and then just update the smartdvb.db etc from a previous version you're using, manually. You need to make sure you're using the new bda.dev etc and not the old ones for some reason if you tried to upgrade on the same folder as a previous install, this is not what you should try.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Unpacked to a new folder, registered filters as admin. Getting no signal when scanning channel list.

I thought that a restart might help. after all, I did start the upgrade by uninstalling (as admin) the release version. But today, one restart later, I'm getting the same result "no signal" when scanning.

any suggestion?

strange that all modules don't tune, this suggests some kind of other problem, perhaps dvb-t related. The ini list you're using is exactly the same as the uninstalled version? Do you perhaps use dvb-t offsets in the ini? Is the 'enable dvb-t' offset in the scanner enabled or disabled? You could try both. With bda.dev i could also suggest to go to bda settings and make sure the 'prefer generic network provider' optoin is enabled. If all fails you can send me a bda.log and smartdvb.log (after some failed scan tunes using bda.dev) so i can try to see if there is some error there..

good to see you back again btw..

Can't upload the log files here, it seems. I'm PM-ing you the link.
I did a clean "install" - new folder, default settings except for setting the device and freqeuncies. Also, I tried what you suggested: offset during the scan and the device settings thing - that didn't work, unfortunately.

thanks. I see something strange in the logs, for some reason the autodetection code sees it as a Turbosight QBOX device, i'll have to check what goes wrong there.
One thing you can still try. Using bda.dev. Go to bda device settings (tools > device settings), set device type to 'DVB-T' press ok, restart the app, and see if it tunes now. This should force DVB-T mode despite the auto detection.
