Few 'newby' questions / problems

Postby zanco48 » Fri Dec 04, 2020 10:04 am

Have been experimenting with dvb software for some weeks now and found that SmartDVB is the only software that understands my diseqc configuration so I am very happy with it. However there are a few things I would like to ask.

When doing a blindscan and at the end chose to process the found channels it seems to see already present channels as new so my list doubles without any new entries. Is there a setting I should change? I can delete the double channels but that doesn't work for a huge list :x

When watching a channel (mostly HD) I find that after a while video and audio get out of sync. I am using the LAV decoers (0.74.1) but maybe should use other option?

Running the portable 0.5.3.26 x64

Thanks in advance for any help.

For AV-sync problems you can try:
- auto AV-sync correction in LAV audio decoder
- different audio renderer

(... and report which works best for you)

different audio renderer

Happy new year to all

Due to some personal issues response here has been minimal lately but i'm still here.

you might also try a directsound renderer since these tend to be more stable in general.
If issues persist you could also try different graph clock (settings > general > directshow settings > graph/performance settings > graph clock). Don't use the DVB clock since that's still kind of experimental how i recall.

When watching a channel (mostly HD) I find that after a while video and audio get out of sync. I am using the LAV decoers (0.74.1) but maybe should use other option?

Sometimes video decoders can also make a difference. As mentioned the LAV auto AV-sync correction can do a good job. Otherwise perhaps you can try using the LAV Splitter? It is much slower and perhaps unstable with your current build, when compared to the default SmartAVSrc splitter, but it might be better for sync issues if you happen to get video?

best regards

I'm presuming you have registered the filters (smartdvb/filters folder) from the portable version. Other than the LAV codecs what are your other directshow connection setttings (what video renderer, audio renderer, splitter etc are you trying to use). If you're able to locate smartdvb.log in portable installation folder are there any error messages there? Anything else you're using outside of the box?

cheers

the settings look reasonable, smartdvb.log shows a timeshift error though?

Error opening timeshift file for read/write O:\Liste ITA\Nuova cartella\SmartDVB\SmartDVB64\timeshift64.ts, reverting to no timeshift

could you make sure the above timeshift path is accessible (settings -> timeshift) or otherwise disable timeshift and restart the app.
If you're the path exists and want to keep using it try running the app elevated with administrator privileges.

logs show low quality/level (20/20). Are you able to tune those frequencies with other dvb-t tools?

it might not be a software but a hardware issue, probably DVB-T low signal related, something which btw is very common for DVB-T. So to ensure that perhaps it's still not a software issue i asked you to try some other software (most devices have their own tuning software delivered with it, does the device tune correctly with the sw from the device?). If some other tool works fine we can continue from there.

here's an avermedia link with their software which you could use to check if it works better we'll look further.
https://www.avermedia.com/nl/product-detail/A865R

You can also just try a different tuner module and see if that perhaps works better (menu frequencies > add/edit frequency lists,at the 'frequency lists' dialog select your frequency list ('configured frequency lists') and use the 'select device' button to select a different module (crazycat module should also work for DVB-T but also BDAS.DEV might work. This all assuming it might not be a pure signal/hardware issue (still even hardware changes to new hardware can lead to problems with old drivers etc, did you look for updated drivers for your device or are you sure you are using the latest w10 capable drivers?)

first thxs again,
thxs for the avermedia link but i really do not want to buy another dvb-t key
i have the latest drive for avermedia A867 of 05.06.2013 there is no newer one , checked also with win 10 update
now i'm using bda.dev cause it was the first of a list of 4..and i see the vers is 1.4.0.0
so you suggest to try an other module-device?
i'm not expertized so i really do not know about module devices and so on..apologize..
pls continue with yr precious helping me..
thxs so much

tried modifing the module : blindscan of crazycat and bdas.dev
the first ,crazycat, return error module 0
the second works exactly as bda.dev...
the most are not viewable..with the exception,as just said, of the channel: marcopolo see my last attch 6 and 7
i re upload the smartdvb.log hoping you will be finally able to help me..
pls do not leave me alone..

I'm not sure what the issues are you're having, that Avermedia device you are using is a DVB-T, not a DVB-T2 device (You are not using DVB-T2 at your current location?, DVB-T2 is a new broadcast standard but presuming you're in Italy i don't think you're using DVB-T2 there yet).
Otherwise i'd still say you should just check with the avermedia software from the device itself, if you cannot tune the same frequencies with that it's not a sdvb issue.

ok good to hear. Are you also saying the LAV Video decoder didn't work correctly then for you for H264/SD? If so this might be related to settings, try disabling the directshow settings 'quick connect options' and 'EVR options', if enabled at all. Otherwise strange you had to use MS DTV since LAV is very well tested and should also work for all video types.

"Are you also saying the LAV Video decoder didn't work correctly then for you for H264/SD? "..:

..no...the pic i attached are different...
one is for the -codec- sec. the other for the codec PIP sec.
setting the codec with all Lav ,as you see in the pic about the sec. -codec-,
i automatically find that the other sec. the -codec PIP- was setted as in the attached pic.
i really do not make any changes in the codec PIP sec.
i only try different options in the sec. -codec- and find the right.
all setted to Lav
then i go to the codec PIP sec and i see that was setted in a different way but realizing that now i see all the channels
i do not make any changes in the codec PIP sec. that now is different related to the codec sec.
am i wrong? should i have to set also the codec PIP sec to all Lav as i did for the sec. codec?
and what about my last log..?..:
i attached here in my previous post also the last smartdvb.log
in order to let you know why anyway i'm still having only L/Q at 20%...
could you pls tell me how to have the quality better?

can be hardware related, with DVB-T you could see if a different location results in better signal.
