SAT>IP support

Here you can talk about features you would like to see in future releases

SAT>IP support

Postby Frost85 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 5:42 pm

Hi,

Please, someone can incorporate support for SAT>IP protocol?

It's some kind of custom RTSP protocol.
See for the full specificationat:
http://www.satip.info/resources

Some open source projects have already incorporated support for them.

there are no plans to implement this, but maybe someone could incorporate this into an addon? I've seen this with other apps so should be possible with perhaps some additional addon calls.

I don't know. But where I can found the headers and examples for a new tuner/addon?

this describes a module/tuner dll. If you require other calls or functionality to make sat>ip working just let me know i'll add/modify those calls to test.

See the addon section for example of current addon:

Sorry to dig this old topic out again, but have the plans changed since then? I have a very nicely running SAT>IP installation and now learned about SmartDVB and would like to use it in this installation. Unfortunately my coding skills are far from sufficient to implement it by myself...

SAT/IP support might be added at some future date but does not have a priority atm for various reasons. I don't have SAT/IP capable hardware and i also never got many other requests for this, may i ask how popular is SAT/IP, is it used a lot by now in Germany and elsewhere? Also development is difficult and time consuming without actual hardware (perhaps you know someone or SAT/IP manufacturers who might be willing to help here, not sure if using only remote testers will be sufficient to develop this)

I don't know, if SAT>IP is really 'popular' in Germany as it seems that just very few people know of it, but it is a very good and interesting technique to distribute sat in a house, where LAN, WLAN or Powerline LAN is available, but no coax cable to every room. I really don't know, why it's uncommon. And only Panasonic as TV manufacturer supports it flawlessly.
Unfortunately I don't know a willing manufacturer of SAT>IP servers. Here http://www.satip.info/products/sat%3Eip%20servers is a list of devices of several manufacturers. Maybe one is interested in a development. TV headend for linux and VLC have support for it, so looking into their sources might help. But this is way beyond my skills...
